Continental Insurance being a leading insurance provider in Sri Lanka has always been a great influence on Performing Arts in the Country. We have looked to boost entertainers at stage shows, concerts and theatre, right from the inception of our business. Continental has no limitations; just like with the products we offer. We are stretched from world famous performers to local small time amateurs.
Dinner theatre performances, Comedy Nights to support kids on the street, “My Funny Valentine” on Valentine’s Day and the final theatrical extravaganza by “Kolu” at the Mount Lavinia Hotel are examples of support given to local artists. Continental was also a prominent supporter of the immensely popular comedy stage show “Puswedilla” performed at the Lionel Wendt Theatre. VIP invitees to the show were full of praise, having enjoyed the evening’s entertainment as did the crowds that packed the theatre.
As a responsible Insurance provider and a corporate citizen, Continental was always mindful of the dearth of quality International performers and entertainment in our country. So many Sri Lankans travel overseas to various countries to witness the performance of live bands and entertainers. Continental stepped in as an Official Insurance Partner for touring International entertainers and thereby very importantly gave the local public the opportunity of witnessing top quality international performers at home. As their Official Insurance Partner Continental protected the performers from all natural and occupational hazards during travel and performances.
A few of the top International Musicians and Bands who were associated with Continental to support International performances in Sri Lanka were:
BoyZone in Sri Lanka
Boy Zone visited Sri Lanka on 16th August 2018 at the CR & FC Grounds, as part of their farewell tour to UK, Asia and Ireland and final destination in Sri Lanka prior to winding up as a legendary group of musicians. Boyzone has lived a full life as a band with Ronan, Keith, Mikey and Shane. After 25 years of making music to a legion of fans representing many generations and have made their lives so meaningful. The recent loss of their band member Stephen Gately was painful and the only source of comfort is that the music they have made will last forever. A tribute to their brother in the shape of a new song, “ I can dream”.
One ambition to perform in Sri Lanka was the fact that it is a tourist destination and they were keen to put this on their world map. Sadly they are bringing their career to an end but their music will still be played on the radio and enjoyed by all generations. Boyzone were unable to leave he stage since the applause never ended and they had no choice but to oblige the happy listeners.
