Executive Management Team

A stalwart in general insurance, Mr. Gerry Gunadasa is a Chartered Insurer and counts over 40 years of experience both locally and globally. An Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London, Mr. Gunadasa, commenced his insurance career in 1963, with the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation. Since then he has held many senior positions in the industry. He joined Continental Insurance in 2009 and today, serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Company.

Mr. Karunaratne, a Chartered Insurer, is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London. He also holds a B.Sc. (Special) Degree in Mathematics from the University of Kelaniya. He began his career in insurance in 2005 and went on to join Continental Insurance in March 2010. His dedication and commitment has propelled him to his current, senior position in a short span of time.

Subha Herath has come on board to head the Enterprise Risk Management, Strategy and Customer Care functions of Continental Insurance Lanka Limited. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). Subha counts over 14 years of experience in strategy, risk management, treasury, corporate finance and investment research, in both local and multinational companies.

With over 14 years of experience, Mr. Hettiarachchi has acquired a wealth of knowledge and know-how in Information Technology. He is a results-oriented leader in the IT industry and is highly skilled in managing projects, complex IT solution designs and engineering principles. He is proficient in infrastructure analysis which helps drive business development while achieving customer-focused success. Mr. Hettiarachchi has over 10 years’ experience in general insurance. He is a PMP and has acquired a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Canterbury, UK and Bachelor of Information Technology in Computer Engineering from The Open University of Sri Lanka.

Chaya Wickramadara, counts over 15 years of experience in the field of Human Resource Management and Human Resources Development. She holds a Chartered qualification in HR Management offered by CIPM and an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University UK. She has completed her Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management with CIPM and National Diploma in Training and Development with SLITAD. She is an award winner of the title ‘best HR professional’ by CIPM. She is an active Toastmaster with ACG and ALB titles, who has represented Sri Lanka at a national level as well as international platforms. She is an Associate member of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and Sri Lanka Institute of Training and Development as well.

Nilmini joined Continental Insurance Lanka Limited in 2013,in the capacity of Head of Broker Relations. She counted over 25 years of professional experience in the Insurance Industry, Her wide experience with Insurance Intermediaries and their Corporate Clients, her dedication and commitment has proven best track record of Insurance Sales in the industry. She excelled and mastered industry practices. Her vision is to take the Company forward through investing her professional expertise on developing the intermediary segment of the organization. Nilmini now functions as General Manager (Sales) and posses a stamp of excellence in her drive for sales.

Upul Bandara (UB) brings nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. He began his career in 2006 while pursuing his undergraduate studies at the University of Colombo and later earned a Master’s degree from the same institution in 2018.

Upul joined Continental Insurance in 2013, initially leading the Marketing Department, where he played a key role in strengthening the Continental brand. In 2022, he took on the responsibility of overseeing Personal Lines business operations, managing 60 branches across the country. His role focuses on streamlining processes, optimizing sales strategies, and ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives.

With expertise in strategic marketing and operations, Upul is dedicated to driving growth, enhancing brand presence, and improving operational efficiency. His career reflects a strong commitment to excellence, business development, and team empowerment.

Ushani heads the Legal and Compliance functions of Continental Insurance Lanka Limited. She counts over 20 years of experience in Legal and Compliance fields, specializing in Finance and Insurance industries. She holds an LLB degree from the university of Colombo, and has obtained her professional qualifications as an Attorney-at-Law from the Sri Lanka Law College. Ushani is a registered Company Secretary and a Notary Public. She brings a wealth of expertise to the Company in handling complex legal matters in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and Corporate law.
